With the means at hand, a director does everything possible for the success of the shooting of his film. Unfortunately for him, he falls on an actress who does not facilitate his task.


About the Director

Kevin Mavakala is a writer and director. He graduated in Dramatic Art (Option Cinema) at the National Institute of Arts (INA), graduated in English at the Congo American Language Institute (CALI), and is a member of the Association Ciné na Biso, an organisation that works to promote Congolese cinema. He is also the founder of Pole'Arts, a film production and distribution company. His very first film, Les Devoirs, won two awards at the 4th edition of the International Film Festival of Kinshasa (Fickin): the award for the revelation of the year and the award for best male performance.

In 2018, his very first play, Lipanda, won the 3rd Prize in the "Young Democrat" competition organised by the Carter Center. His latest film, The Star, is touring the world after winning the Best International Short Film Award at the Festival Écrans Noirs 2021(Cameroon), the Best Film Award at the Quibdo Africa Film Festival 2021(Colombia), the Best Actor Award at the Fickin Film Festival 2021(DRC), an Honourable Mention at the Cefalu Festival 2022 (Italy), and being selected́ at the Short Film Corner of the 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival for the Talentueuse Camera d'Afrique programme.
