XEER BU GAÑJARU (The Precious Stone) 2022

Finding by chance a precious historical stone on an archaeological site, two children decide to deliver it to the village authority. They have to face Kalidou, an old man, deeply indebted, who is meant to sell the piece to an antique dealer. A race against the clock through the forest and across the river starts between Kalidou and the two brave children.

About the Director

Young Senegalese filmmaker Babacar Hanne Dia attended several writing and directing workshops between 2013 and 2021 while writing or co-writing several short films. Assistant director on many shorts, coordinator of the "Ciné saloum" film club at the Alliance française de Kaolack, and winner of the GREC/France TV 2020 prize, Babacar directed his short The Precious Stone in 2021.
